CEO

Hey, I'm Ron Jones

By the age of 58, I had achieved the pinnacle of success at Aflac, claiming the top spot in recruitment, development, and retention for 10 consecutive years – effectively making me number one in sales.

Just as my career was soaring, a new manager arrived and dubbed me a "dinosaur," pushing me to revamp my approach. Unwilling to compromise on my commitment to treating my team like family, I chose to “retire”. Unfortunately, under the new management and their tactics, most of my loyal team departed.

Recognizing that this was a key factor contributing to the 92% failure rate among agents, I devoted considerable time to reflecting on the core principles that underpinned my success. I felt a deep desire to share my years of insights with agencies striving to nurture outstanding teams, especially amidst the challenges of managing four different generations.

#1 best-selling author

In my #1 best-selling book, "Breaking Boundaries: The Cross-Generational Guide to Recruiting, Developing, and Retaining," I share the secrets that made me and my teams successful. I explain how to bridge generational gaps, empower agents, and foster a culture of excellence while celebrating each generation's unique strengths.

Entering the insurance industry

Looking back on my life, I recognized that my single teenage mother set the foundation for my success, instilling in me the values of hard work, strong relationships, and understanding people. By age six, I was connecting to people, shining their shoes and collecting their empty Coke bottles to earn my lunch money.

These same values helped me overcome the insecurities of dyslexia and graduate from high school early. Then, I proudly served in the Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard for the next four years, acquiring invaluable leadership skills. Following my desire to help people, I earned a degree from seminary to become a pastor while also pursuing my entrepreneurial spirit.

Before turning 27, I built incredible teams that helped me become a millionaire through real estate investments and the establishment of a thriving mortgage company and construction business. However, the market crash of the 1980s not only left me financially depleted but also personally devastated, leading to the loss of friends, family, and my marriage.

In 1987, I entered the insurance industry, but in the face of adversity, I fell into substance abuse. During my healing journey, I embarked on a path of personal growth and rekindled my passion for helping others. I pursued a degree in psychology and devoted nine years of my life to counseling, specializing in assisting individuals dealing with substance abuse, mental health challenges, and dual diagnoses. I served as a family counselor at Harris Methodist Hospital, took on the role of program manager for Tarrant County MHMR Dual Diagnosis Unit, and served as the Program Director for the Outpatient Clinic, overseeing clients from both the Bureau of Prisons (Federal) and probation and parole programs at the state level.

Developing people for the win

Despite my passion for assisting others, I found myself longing for the entrepreneurial world and the financial opportunities it offered. In 2005, I returned to the insurance industry, capitalizing on my expertise in developing individuals and leading them through life's challenges. These skills enabled me to swiftly rise through the ranks and become one of the nation's foremost recruiters and talent retainers.

In 2009, tragedy struck my life when I lost my son, Wade. During this traumatic period, I came to realize the profound significance of my team. I leaned heavily on these relationships, which played a pivotal role in my healing process. It was during this time that I recognized the paramount significance of success in business being intrinsically linked to the development of people and the cultivation of meaningful relationships.

Where I am now

Since departing the agency and authoring my book, I launched one of the leading agent recruiting companies, RL Virtual Marketing. We help agencies to scale by filling their calendars with consistent, qualified leads.

Also, realizing the issues agencies are facing with four different generations, I started Agency Growth Factor. We are passionate about empowering agencies to successfully recruit, develop, and retain their agents.

I firmly believe that if you properly develop people and put them first, you will not only build financial success but you will also have happiness beyond your wildest dreams.

Above all, my family is my heart – my wife, two daughters, one deceased son, three stepdaughters, four sons-in-law, and 13 beloved grandchildren.
